How Much Wedding Cake Do I Really Need?

We have a feeling that one of the most fun parts of wedding planning is the cake tasting! However, with so many different flavors, styles, sizes and embellishments to choose from, picking out the right cake for your big day can be a little intimidating. Don’t worry— we are here to help!
One of the questions we get asked most often is : Do I need to have a slice of cake for each person on my guest list? Well, we asked the experts at Daughters Baking what they tell their brides during their initial cake consultation.

The ladies at Daughters Baking recommend to plan on enough wedding cake for approximately 80% of the number of wedding guests you expect to attend. We've found that nearly 20% of wedding guests won't eat wedding cake either due to dietary restrictions or personal preferences. Another consideration is whether a groom's cake will be offered. However, we are seeing more and more guests wanting to try BOTH cakes!

Daughters Baking is the beautiful and delicious creation of Mallory (Webb) Mason. Mallory began baking while working at Urban Standard as a college student at Samford University. After operating out of her home, Mallory opened her first kitchen in Homewood. In July of 2021, Daughters Baking opened its doors in Mountain Brook Village.

What if we like more than one flavor?
No problem! We are happy to alternate flavors on tiered cakes.Another popular option is to offer several single-tiered wedding cakes in a variety of flavors and sizes.
What if my wedding count changes?
We got you! We love to give our brides as much flexibility as possible to make the process as smooth as possible. Brides are able to make any changes to size, style, and/or flavor up to 30 days prior to the wedding date. At that point, we do ask that all changes be finalized.
What if my wedding is on a Sunday?
We are happy to provide delivery + set up on Sundays! Single layer cakes are available to be picked up from our storefront on the day prior (Saturday pickup).
