What do I need to know before booking a florist?
By the time I am contacted, a wedding date and venue/location usually have been chosen. Beyond those selections, there are a few other key items that are helpful to know when talking with a floral designer…Because every wedding I do is custom-designed and custom-priced, if a bride knows her “numbers” (how many bridesmaids’ bouquets, centerpieces, altar florals, and reception focal points she is wanting), I will be able to give an accurate quote for her wedding florals. Inspiration pictures or Pinterest boards are also a great way to help me “see” a bride’s floral vision! I usually meet with brides again about two months prior to their wedding date to be sure all the details have been taken care of and I am ready to deliver their dream wedding florals on the big day!!
What’s flowers should I use for my wedding?
From a design standpoint, I love a seasonally-appropriate floral design: pastels and spring bulbs for Springtime or rich colors and textures such as branches & seed pods for an Autumn wedding. That being said, whatever color scheme the bride is dreaming of can be created any time of the year! Most “basic” flowers such as roses, sprayroses, and hydrangeas are available year-round, but the price can fluctuate depending on if they are in a particularly high-demand period or where they are being grown. For example, red roses are more expensive around Christmas and Valentine’s Day because of the high volume of those holidays. Some specialty or premium blooms such as peonies or dahlias are only available in certain seasons and their price reflects that. Trust your floral designer’s expertise and give them artistic license to use the blooms available at the time of your wedding to bring your floral vision to life!
What to expect from Susan Milner?
I love to tell a couple’s story through their wedding florals! I design florals in a variety of styles because I believe a bride’s florals should reflect her personality, style, and vision for her wedding day. For that reason, there is no one “signature look” for Susan Milner Design florals. While I strive to always create elegant and timeless designs, my ultimate goal is to bring a bride’s vision to life and deliver florals that are more beautiful than her wildest imagination! We can create almost anything a bride can dream up!
We offer “the basics”: personal florals for the wedding party in a pickup order format as well as ceremony-only florals with delivery service if needed.
And we offer “full service” floral design for personal flowers, ceremony, and reception florals with delivery, flip service, and takedown service. These full-service options include containers, props, arches, tablescapes, candles, and votives; most anything a bride would need for her florals.
